Terms of Service

1. Agreement
These Terms of Service govern your use of BookStoreBase (the "Service"), an inventory and point-of-sale system for used bookstores. By creating a store account, you agree to these terms. If you're signing up on behalf of a business, you're confirming you have authority to accept these terms for that business.
2. Your Account and Store Data
Each store account gets its own isolated set of inventory, sales, and customer records, kept separate from every other store on BookStoreBase. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for the accuracy of the information you enter, including information about your own customers that you choose to record (for buybacks, consignment, gift cards, or store credit).
3. Subscription and Billing
New stores get a 3-month free trial. After the trial, the Service is billed at $29.99/month, processed through Stripe. You can cancel at any time from your Billing page; cancelling stops future charges but doesn't retroactively refund the current billing period. We may change pricing going forward, with notice before it applies to your account.
4. AI-Assisted Features
Some features (reading book spines from a photo, suggesting a resale price, and the plain-English inventory assistant) send the specific text or image you submit for that action to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) for processing. These features are always something you actively trigger, and their output is a suggestion you review and confirm, never applied automatically.
5. Network Wishlist
If you post a title to the Network Wishlist, that title (and the fact that your store is looking for it) becomes visible to every other active BookStoreBase store. Don't post anything there you wouldn't want visible outside your own store.
6. Acceptable Use
Don't use the Service for anything illegal, don't try to access another store's data, and don't abuse shared features like the Network Wishlist board. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this or that stop paying for the Service.
7. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. AI-generated suggestions (pricing, spine reading, assistant answers) can be wrong, incomplete, and are not a substitute for your own judgment. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BookStoreBase isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the Service changes. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date; continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the update.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
