What we collect

To run your store account: your store name, username, email, and password (stored as a hash, never in plain text). To run your store's day-to-day operations: whatever inventory, sales, and customer records you choose to enter, which can include personal information about your own customers, like a name, phone number, or email, if you record it for a buyback, consignment, or loyalty purpose.

How we use it

To operate the Service, process your subscription billing, respond when you contact support, and power the features you actively use (spine-scanning, price suggestions, the inventory assistant). We don't sell your data, and we don't use any third-party advertising or analytics trackers on this site.

Third parties we share data with

Stripe processes subscription payments; we don't see or store your full card number ourselves.
Anthropic (Claude) processes the specific text or photo you submit when you use an AI-assisted feature, in order to return that feature's result.
Open Library is queried by ISBN to fetch public book cover images and lookup data.

We don't share your store's data with any other BookStoreBase store, except the specific title you choose to post to the Network Wishlist, which is visible to other stores by design.

Data isolation between stores

Each store's inventory, sales, and customer records are kept in a separate, isolated database from every other store on BookStoreBase.

Data retention and security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data and back it up regularly, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. If you close your account, contact us and we'll work with you on deleting your store's data.

Your choices

There's no self-service data export yet. If you'd like a copy of your store's data, or want it deleted, email us and we'll take care of it directly.

Cookies

We use one cookie to keep you signed in. That's it, no tracking or advertising cookies.
